In a recent interview, actress Shalu Shamu bravely shared a distressing experience involving a director who wanted her to share his bed.
The film industry has long grappled with the issue of actresses facing uncomfortable demands for “adjustments.” Many argue that actresses should be recognized and cast based on their talent rather than subjected to such pressures. Yet, the problem persists.
Actresses Breaking the Silence: It’s a rarity for actresses to come forward and openly discuss the harassment they face due to these demands. However, a growing number of actresses have begun speaking out about their own experiences. Even Nayanthara, often hailed as the “Lady Superstar,” has declared that the era of adjustments is over.
Varalakshmi’s Revelation: Similarly, Varalakshmi, widely regarded as a versatile actress, has also shared her ordeal with such demands, even from a renowned film. Many actresses have started candid conversations about their encounters with this uncomfortable aspect of the industry.
Shalu Shammu’s Revelation: In this context, actress Shalu Shamu recently revealed her own shocking encounter in an interview. She recounted, “A director approached me for a film role and provided an address, claiming it was to discuss my character. Trusting the address, I went there. To my surprise, it was the director’s own home, adorned with family photographs. No one else was present. He offered me a glass of juice and continued talking. However, instead of discussing the film or my character, he steered the conversation toward inappropriate topics. Eventually, he made an unsettling advance, inviting me to his bed. In shock, I promptly left the premises.”
Shalu Shamu, known for her role as Sridivya’s friend in the Sivakarthikeyan starrer “Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam,” has appeared in various other films, including “Mr. Local.” Facing limited opportunities in the film industry, she actively engages with social media, sharing her dance videos and photos.
